A Week Of Many Things

Well we have had a quiet week. After one of his brother's car broke down and had to come stay at the house for a week while his Dad fixed it, Paul had to share his living room. That was a little hard for him but he also enjoyed have someone to play video games with. He work on his bedroom making a bigger baby room for Micheal since we told him we could not build a whole new house just so Micheal could have a room of his own.
Paul dividing his room with a sheet.

Paul has decided to have a baby shower now for Micheal so he made up invitation for the shower. He made envelopes with everyone names on it and then inside was the invite. It said on the outside of folded white paper For My Baby, then on the inside it says happy to be at Baby Shower go to my home. He has given these to each of his brothers and has one made up also for his grandmother. Now his oldest brother's wife just had a baby shower in Sept. and his cousin had one this summer that he went to and his third brother is having one in February so I guess he figures he needs one too. He says Micheal needs new clothes. So we will probably come up with something.

This Sunday we fixed a Turkey dinner, just fix it, but he figures it is Thanksgiving again. He decided it was his time to carve the turkey so his dad standing next to him let him do it. He was so proud of himself and he kept calling me to come in and take pictures of him doing. He loves to have his picture taken. He really thought he was big stuff.

One problem Downs have is a weight problem. Paul has a heart defect and was told last February it would a be a good idea to lose some weight, about 33 pounds. We joined weight watchers and by September he lost 25 pounds and then the Holidays started. Needless to say all diets went out the window. When he weighed the beginning of January he had gain back 12 pounds of what he had lost, so we have started weight watcher diet again this week with his dad, mom, and Paul with weigh-in on Sundays. We made this a competition between the three of us, with this week Paul winning. He thought he was top dog but we will see how he does next week. He lost 6 pounds.

Paul's Livng quarters

In a comment on my last post it was suggested that I tell how we have set Paul's living arrangements up. Paul has three older brothers and an older sister who all have moved away in their own places with their families. Paul wanted to move out on his own like them but he didn't want to leave Mom and Dad either. Well we have a five bedroom home with our bedroom and living room on one end of the house and the four bedrooms and bathroom on the other end so we took the biggest bedroom and turned it into a living room giving Paul his own little apartment to decorate as he wants. He has his own bedroom, bathroom, and living room. He loves to change the furniture around every other day. So he fills independent and loves to get things for his place. This summer he called his oldest brother up and told him he wanted a gray rug for his living room for Christmas and wanted black shelves from Mom and Dad. He got his shelves but his rug will probably have to wait til his birthday.

Now the story on Micheal. He wanted to have a baby like his brothers so we decided to get him a doll and made him take care of Micheal like a real baby. He had to feed him, change him, take him everywhere including putting him in a car seat and taking him shopping, movies, friends, etc. I had a baby cry on my computer so I would sound it off every so often so he would have to take care of Micheal. After about a week of this he has decided having Micheal was enough, but Micheal does have his own baby furniture and is thought of every so often. He likes to celebrate Micheal's birthday and gets him gifts every so often. He still likes to take him places sometimes. So Micheal has become part of our family also.

End of one Holiday, Start of Another

Paul and his best friend Gizmo.

Well we've been busy the last couple of days now that most the snow is gone. First we started with New Years Eve. Paul's dad, Mark, had to work so we spent it at home watching Disney channel rings in the new year and taking down some of the Christmas decorations. Now Paul took down his tree in his room but then put up home made drawn Easter eggs around his window and walls and got out the Easter decorations. Looks like we're going to have Easter around for more than 3 1/2 months. Guess we will forget several birthdays and valentine days.

New Years Day we went to WalMart and got Paul his Christmas present as snow kept us from getting it in time which was book shelves for his living room. He also found a movie he wanted that he brought with Christmas money he got. You'll never guess. Yep Fred Claus, so we're back to Christmas again. When we got home he was going to put the whole thing together without his dad. So dad stood back and directed which lasted 5 minutes when Paul decided he needed Dad's help. But they got it all done and he proud of himself and loves having his shelves.

On Friday we had a yacht club dinner and he loves to go there. It's FOOD. So I told him to go in and get ready and he came out all dressed up in a suit. He was so proud and said he wanted to look pretty. I thought he looked handsome. Everyone at the club enjoyed him looking so good and he walked around with pride.

Saturday we took his grandmother, my mom, grocery shopping as he likes to be her helper the trouble is , it takes grandma 2 1/2 hours to shop for a 1/2 basket of food. He gets a little bored and then he's always hungry but he survived. So that's it for now everyone enjoy the New Year and Hopefully it will be full blessings like we have.
